THE THIRTEENTH DOCTOR - JODIE WHITAKER
Designed for the television series Doctor Who and for the BBC
This design was made for the British Broadcasting Corporation and its television series entitled Doctor Who. This design was created for an online challenge where the company wanted artists to upload designs for a chance to be one of several featured on a t-shirt sold worldwide and debuting at San Diego Comic Con 2019. The only rules were that you had to use the character of the Doctor and display the Tardis. When preparing for this design, I instantly wanted to showcase the current Doctor in my design. My goal was to keep everything simple, so, instead of using her actual likeness, I used her silhouette. I used the simple striped pattern she is known for within the design and paired it with the Tardis which was essential to the design. While I didn’t win a top spot, I was later contacted by the company as they were impressed with my design. They bought this piece and told me that it would not only be featured on a t-shirt, like originally planned with the contest, but across multiple products sold worldwide.
